The Border Randonnee & Family Ride 2019 is a success
Over 60 riders took part in a new charity cycle ride called The Border Randonnee on 11May. The event raised over £2,900 for Prostate Cancer UK, End Polio Now, and Rotary charities. Cyclists could choose between 3 different routes of 29, 58 or 78 miles which attracted a broad range of cycling abilities. Run by The Rotary Club of Shrewsbury Darwin, organiser Philip Freeman said. “We wanted an event that was open to all riders from strictly lycra to t-shirt and shorts and the turnout was even better than we had expected, it was fantastic!”
He paid tribute to all the sponsors and volunteers who made the day possible. All the rides started and finished at Llandrinio village hall where the Rotary Club laid on afternoon tea for all the riders. Philip confirmed, “Next year we will run the event with even better routes and more cake for cyclists who use up so much energy!”
We are also hoping to produce a short video of the day so hope you will continue to support the event.
